Regular Program


1. Eligibility

A person who has graduated from high school or higher or has an equivalent qualification


2. Selection Criteria (Screening documents and interview)

- Applicants who have a clear purpose of studying Korean language

- Applicants who have no problems with entry and visa issuance

- Applicants who have sufficient financial ability to cover expenses for studying abroad.

Class Hour: 4 hours per day / 5 days per week / 10 weeks per semester

The schedule may be changed due to the situations of the institute.

 

- The number of students : Around 20 students in a class, divide into classes after initial placement test.

- Subjects : Vocabulary and Basic conversation practice, Korean Grammar, Speaking, Reading, and Writing etc.

- Course Evaluation and Completion

Evaluation: Regular test(Midterm 30%, Final 50%, Quiz 10%, Attendance1 0%)

Completion of the Course: Those who have attended three-fourth of class hours (200hours / semester) and passed level tests.

Beginners with no knowledge of Korean language will learn the principles of Korean vowels, consonants and pronunciation. They are expected to converse on a basic level upon the completion of the course.

Learners are expected to communicate in day-to-day simple Korean and will be able to communicate on their own in public settings such as post offices, banks and markets.

Learners are expected to express themselves mostly in Korean. They will go through in-depth training in grammar and writing.

Learners are expected to learn a variety of vocabulary and expressions. Basic social issues in Korea will be learned and understood, and they will gain skills/abilities to communicate in both work settings and university level class settings.

Advanced

Learners are expected to understand general social conditions of Korea and express themselves in Korean. Those who are interested in applying to university/graduate schools will go through in-depth training in writing and reading.

Learners are expected to speak Korean freely and have no problem watching and listening to Korean movies, drama and news. They will be capable of communicating with Koreans

Sejong Korean Volumes 1 to 8 (published by the National Institute of the Korean Language) and Workbook

We are composed of instructors who have been recognized for their ability to teach Korean, and we have professional instructors with rich educational experience and effective teaching methods.

 

7. Special Activities

Cultural experience: Various Korean culture experiences such as traditional Korean culture, visit to palaces, wearing hanbok, Korean cooking, etc.

Regular counseling for Korean language learning and study abroad life

Special activities may change depending on the operating conditions of each semester

Special Lecture  for TOPIK


The KLC offers complimentary TOPIK special lectures for the students who prepare for the TOPIK(Korean Language Proficiency Test)

Preparation for TOPIK
To provide opportunities for foreign students to enter undergraduate/graduate school and find a job by helping them to obtain high scores in the TOPIK test

Schedule: 10 classes and 1 mock test
Course level: Beginner or Intermediate (Levels can be changed.)
Target: Forign students of the KLC, Seoul Venture University

2. List of documents to be submitted

 

- Vietnam (Countries other than China)

1) application form

2) Copy of passport

3) ID for the applicant and his/her parents

4) 3 photos(white background, 3.5 x 4.5 cm)

5) Proof of bank balance of $10,000 or more in the name of the parent or the student (issued within one month)

* In the case of Vietnam, a certificate of the balance of the ‘Payment Reservation Method’

6) Last school transcript/graduation certificate : authentication by the Korean consul

7) Birth registration or family relationship certificate

8) Proof of Income (Student's or Parent's)

Income Confirmation verified by a local office in Vietnam

or Business (household business) registration / tax payment statement


- China

6) The original academic background certification issued by the Ministry of Education of China

All documents must be translated (notarized) into Korean or English.

New arrivals are required to reside in the dormitory (6 months).

If one leave the dormitory during the mandatory residence period, the language course will be terminated.

International students must purchase insurance.

Visa Information

1. Entry Visa [D-4-1]

 •  Most of the language course students can get a six-month visa upon their first arrival.

 •  Please note that the certificate of admission needed for the D-4-1 type of visa application can be issued to those 
who register for the regular program 1 year.

 •  The required documents and period of visa issuance are different from countries. Therefore, applicants must check the information about visa issuance in advance at the Korean Consulate in their residence.

Precautions

*Must register within 90 days of arrival (If not, you will be fined)
*In case of brief return or travel to your home country during language training, you must keep your alien registration card with you
(Please be aware that your depart from Korea or entry to Korea might be restricted and your visa can get invalidated if you do not possess your alien registration card when traveling, depending on nationalities)
*If you lose your alien registration card, you must apply for a new card within 14 days.
*When returning to your home country after you finish your language training you must submit your alien registration card at the airport.

*You must make an online reservation before you visit the immigration office.


3. Visa Extension(Permission of Extension of stay)

Precautions

*You can extend your visa 4 months prior to the expiration date.
*You can make an online reservation to the immigration office 4 months prior to your visit.
※During the visa extension period, there will be more reservations at the immigration office than before, so please make sure to make and online reservation at least 1 month prior to your visit!
*If you extend your visa after the expiration date, you will get fined.
*To apply for visa extension, your attendance rate must be over 70%.
